Leo Cassell – mystery solved!

1617My thanks to Paul Briers and Mark Hughesdon who between them seem to have solved the mystery of card 1617. Apparently Michael Joyce’s ‘Football League Players’ Records 1888-1939′ lists one Leo Eugene Cassell as turning out for Gillingham in 1921-22. No other clubs or seasons are listed and there are no other players named Cassell. The kit seems to match that of other Gills players of the time, so it would seem that he certainly was on Gillingham’s books and, on that basis, I have added him to their team section.

  1. Bert Drealo says:

Leo Cassell also played for Wimbledon towards the end of the 1921/22 season.
